Kissing Bridge Sold to New Owner with Plans for Four-Season Operation

SAM Magazine—Glenwood, N.Y., Nov. 1, 2024—Kissing Bridge Ski Resort was sold to California tech investor Rhett McNulty for $1.06 million. McNulty formed Kissing Bridge All Seasons Resort Inc. in Wyoming to purchase the ski area, which is about 40 minutes south of Buffalo.

While the deal closed this week, McNulty told Buffalo Business First that he has already begun implementing plans to transform the ski area into a year-round operation.

For example, in the months preceding the sale, he spearheaded the construction of more than 15 miles of mountain biking trails, and Kissing Bridge started offering paid mountain biking and free hiking this year.

The ski area also began a significant snowmaking investment, upgrading its snowmaking coverage from six trails to 22 for the coming season, according to the Buffalo Business First article.

McNulty visited Kissing Bridge for the first time this year on a trip to Buffalo, where he has been investing in tech companies. "I immediately noticed the problems and the opportunities," he told Buffalo Business First. "The resort was run-down, it hadn't been updated in years."

In addition to the expanded offerings and infrastructure upgrades, McNulty also plans to invest in technology for the ski area. He said there will likely be some layoffs in the transition but that most of the resort staff will remain in place.

The previous Kissing Bridge board of directors unanimously approved the sale of the ski area to McNulty’s company, according to Erie County documents obtained by local news outlet WBEN.

Kissing Bridge has 39 trails, 550 feet of vertical, and claims 700 skiable acres served by nine lifts.
